Fifteen Minutes is a place to be heard, so we collect as little as possible and we say plainly what we keep.
Your calls are never recorded
Calls are direct, device to device. The audio does not pass through our servers, is never stored, and cannot be replayed by anyone, including us.
If you choose to record an answer for yourself while you wait, that recording is made and kept on your own device. It is never sent to us, and we have no way to receive it.
What we keep
- Your email address, used to sign you in; to remind you before a gathering you said you would come to, or to tell you when the next one is set if you asked us to (both are your choice, made on the home screen, and you can undo either there); if you and another person both ask for an introduction, to send that one email; and to send occasional notes from Eva about Fifteen Minutes and The Connection Experiment, which you can unsubscribe from in any of them. Our email provider keeps that list, and keeps an unsubscribed address only so it is never added again. Your email is never shown to anyone you talk to.
- That you agreed to our Terms, and when.
- Your mark: a shape and a color, random until you change it, and a country only if you choose one.
- Two running totals per account: how many conversations you have had and how long you have talked, never with whom.
- Call records: which two accounts talked and when, never what was said. The record linking the two accounts is kept for 90 days so reports of misconduct can be acted on, then deleted from our database.
- Your post-call answers (ratings, feedback, reports), used to improve the product and keep the community safe.
- Minimal usage data (for example, that an account joined the queue, how long it waited, call durations and outcomes, that an answer was kept but never its content, rough city-level location derived from IP), processed by our analytics provider under an internal account number, never your email. This is retained longer for aggregate statistics, and we do not use it to reconstruct who talked with whom. We use no advertising trackers, no browser fingerprinting, and no session recording.
What the other person learns about you
Your voice, live, during the call, and your mark: an abstract shape and color, plus your country if you chose to share one. No name, no email, no photo, nothing you typed. After the call there is no way to find you unless you both separately ask for an introduction, in which case we email you both once.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account inside the app (on the You screen, or under your email on the home screen). Your personal information and answers are removed immediately, and you are unsubscribed from the notes; call records shed their link to you. Memories you recorded and pictures your calls painted live only on your device, and deleting your account from that device removes them too.
